AA tried to trade him at the deadline to make room for adding Murphy as third catcher but the bidding war changed that trade for Greene late. They don't want to DFA him so maybe they have him hit the 60-day DL somehow. Whatever they do I doubt Jackson is still with us next year. Probably moved in some trade this off-season.
