Nice of Folty to start actually pitching when he's at 80 pitches in the 4th. He has so much potential but I have serious doubts he's ever able to achieve it.

Folty's ERA is down to 2.13 to start the season. He entered today striking out 11 per 9. I know people are really skeptical of him, but if he keeps some approximation of this up, he is going to be a great piece for us.

And yet, he has a 3.20 fip / 3.56 xfip, supported by strong k/9 (11.37) and hr/9 (0.71), and a mediocre but not Newcomb-bad bb/9 (4.26); his babip is not particularly lucky either (.288). You keep saying but the glove-hits!, and yet even the stats on that, as Enscheff linked, show you're wrong.

I too would love to see progress with pitch count / ip/g, and for the bb/9 to drop about 1.0; but as Beanie said, "if he keeps some approximation of this up, he is going to be a great piece for us."
