GDT--3/18 vs Astros

salmagundy

Boras' Client
Travel roster leaves most Braves with MLB roster spot or have a great chance to make OD roster at home

2 Catchers-- Brantly and Suzuki

IF-- Swanson, Schimpf. Colon, Kazmar, Culberson

OFers--RA Jr, Santana, Adams, Decker, Carrera

Pitchers-- Carle, Graham, Kazmir-- Starter, Minter, Sanchez

And 9 coaches

I find it funny the Swanson is sent along with this scrub bunch.

Shrimp gets 1st hit tomorrow

I'm glad you have the faith. He'll K 2 times and possibly get his 1st hit. That hit will ensure that he makes 40 man roster. What a waste of a spot.

Also fromMsstate7---Culberson going too and no other SS with camargo out

Kazmar is going and has spent some time at SS this spring.

Forgot about kazmar.

Yes all SSS comments apply, but he's 0-16 with 11 Ks at this point. Those numbers don't appear to show that he's made any adjustments and that he's exactly the player everyone has seen up until now.

"Waste of a spot" is putting things lightly - they exposed Demeritte to the Rule V Draft, and he makes more contact and is a really good defender. Optioning him to Gwinnett just keeps him in the way and takes ABs away from people who actually deserve to be evaluated further. Put him on waivers and deal with him if nobody takes him off your hands already.

You are missing some stats on Schimpf--

As of 3/16 he's 0-18 in 27 ABs, 18 Ks, 5 BBs

Great AB by Acuna, 2-2 count, fights off a ball for a single that falls in the outfield.

Just great plate awareness.

That’s funny, because what I saw was a guy behind on a good fastball then got lucky with a flair into LF.

He did lay off a good slider away that he would have swung at for a K 2-3 weeks ago though.

I will say that for whatever reason, Acuna seems to have a lot of those jam shots fall in for singles in no man's land. Its almost certainly not sustainable, but when I'm able to watch him play he gets an inordinate amount of those hits.

Probably not sustainable, but there may be some combination of plus hit tool and power that adds up to some amount of skill. For example, being able to make contact on the end of the bat on a pitch most other batters completely miss is a skill. Having the power to make a jam shot go 150’ when other players only hit it 120’ for an out is a skill.

Then, of course, you have the exact opposite and see lucky seasons like Swanson’s debut and Picotty’s best offensive season.

I’ve never seen any work done on that topic, and you’re probably right though.

Acuna takes fastball up then gets just enough of a slider down the middle to beat the drawn in infield.

I would count that as his 2nd lucky hit of the day.

Another hit for Acuna, although i'm not sure if that gets through if they're playing standard defense.
