GDT: 3/29/18 - Atlanta Braves vs. Philthies (ITS OPENING DAYYYYY)

Really seems like the Braves could have kept $5 scratch-off Anyelo Gómez over the 50¢ of slot-machine free-play that is Rex Brothers.

Yea, I still question that move. If we are gonna suck at least gimme that kid who could be a great bullpen arm next year and for years to come.

They have analytics but the absolutely hilarious thing is "Snit said he doesn't think that guys like Brothers need to be LH only".

Uh, hell yeah, he has to be. He's unusable against RHB.

Maybe it’s just me but the last thing I want to see in baseball is to play LaRussa ball in the 6th inning in a game played in March.

Even my other half said,"Why is that guy still on the Braves? Isn't he the one who sucked so bad last year??

I answered her with Yes, he's the POS from last year.

The only reason I can guess is that our dumb **** manager wanted a veteran.

Kapler looked at our roster and decided it was safe to pull Nola after 68 pitches in the 6th...game in hand.

Analytic trends I love:

The Astros playing a four man outfield

Analytic trends I hate:

Nola being pulled at 68 pitches in a game he’s been masterful in

I hope that's not the reason, because I hope Snitker had little-to-nil say in roster decisions ...

I understand keeping him around for part or all of this season, since he's seemingly well-liked by players, has been a loyal lifer for the organization, and the Braves aren't likely to be playing meaningful games anyways. But if he's had any legitimate say in the roster construction, that's a bad sign.

Yea, I understand the numbers behind the whole "third time through" thing; but if you never let a pitcher try, you'll never know which pitchers are the exceptions you can count on to save your bullpen.

That and the last four innings of games are going take two hours to play.

Again, not watching, but I assume that was an extraordinarily professional ground-out from Markakis.

I suspect Nola would have been left in to face Freeman if he had gotten both Inciarte and Albies. Having given up the double to Inciarte I think this is one of those close calls that a manager can go either way on.

One double tells you that? Do the previous 5 innings mean anything?
