GDT 3/29/26: Braves vs. Royals - Holmes to Flush the Royals

FYI - Lopez told Bowman he intentionally dialed back in his last spring start because he was trying to adjust to his shoulder and hip flaring open. He felt it was better for his shoulder to throw with less velocity while working through the adjustment before ramping back up for the regular season. Honestly, that makes sense, even if it rarely happens.

I guess I’m the low one around here on Didier. If he’s not 98+ in a short stint I don’t see anything noteworthy in the arsenal to make him more than a back end SP.

I prefer Ritchie as a SP, and Didier in the BP.

I definitely don't feel he is TOR like he is being hyped.. not yet. but I wouldn't want to give up on him as a starter for sure. He has a four pitch mix and the ability to hit 96+ and is super young, so velo could improve as he fills out and repeats his mechanics.

with that said, I am fine with him being optioned. He needs to build innings before trying to take a starter roll full time. Also need to see if any of the 3 secondary stuff starts to catch up to his FA.

Waldrep was pretty bad, went to the minors, learned 3 above average pitches, and came back as a legit #3 or better. Fried was pretty bad until he dialed in the sinker (I still remember posting how excited I was the first game he started throwing it).

Didier belongs in AAA until he proves he’s a BP arm, which is what I think he ultimately is.
