A lot of talk about Wilson’s improved slider. Perhaps whatever voodoo gave Fried a nasty slider has also made Wilson’s better.

Do secondary pitches peak for a pitcher around a certain age? Seems like they peak later than fastball. I have never pitched though

I haven’t seen any data about aging curves on breaking pitches. All data has been purely velocity related.

I would guess that tweaking spin axis and arm slot are things pitchers can improve upon with analytics and hard work, so it stands to reason they can be improved at almost any age.
 
Wilson sitting at 91 early with the FA isn’t exactly encouraging, but the eye test suggests the slider is more of a downer than it was last year.
