GDT #3 April 2, 2014 Braves @ Brewers

Garza's a talented guy, but my perception of his presence in the Twins' clubhouse is similar to how the Braves felt about Yunel Escobar. There weren't a lot of tears shed when they shipped him to Tampa Bay. That was a bad deal by the Twins, but they wanted him gone.

Yes, but I'm not talking about his attitude... I'm referencing the "Matt Garza is a terrible pitcher" or "Matt Garza sucks" people... that's simply not true.

This marked the first time both starting pitchers in a big league game had not allowed a hit through six innings since June 13, 2010, when Ted Lilly of the Cubs and Gavin Floyd of the White Sox accomplished the feat, according to STATS.

Let's hope he comes back that strong this season.

Some are talking about Garza, the PITCHER, not his antics.

He's clearly a very good pitcher, his antics be damned.

That is a fact.

Some on here act like he's a scrub which is ridiculous to say.

67-67 and 3.84 for his career, or for my stathead friends, 108 ERA+.

He may not suck, but he's a remarkably average pitcher for the arm he's got and the ink he gets.

Nah, he sucks.

Using W/L to determine a pitcher means you already lost this debate.

Garza was in shambles before this game. Many questioned whether or not he was hurt. Guess a lineup with the Uptons and Dan the fan was the perfect remedy.

But it's only been 3 games...

And a full season last year.

Again, very good player but not a superstar like some make him out to be. Nothing wrong with having good players but I'm not giving that guy a 15 million dollar deal.

Then you aren't going to keep good players or get any in free agency either. If Upton repeats 2013 until he's a free agent he will get close to 20.

I'm sorry but I have high expectations for him.

As you should, because he's proven he can deliver. He may not be the 40/40 guy he was projected as when he came up, but he doesn't have to be to be a great player.

And I, for one, think that he's got a few MVP caliber years left in him a la 2011. He's only 26.

This. I was on mlb gameday for most of yesterday's game and today's. I had the same observation. Justin is 26. It seems like he's been around forever, but he's pretty young. His head is in the right place. He's the last guy to bitch about right now. He may be streaky, but he's going to be ok.

Was the same thing with Druw, you felt like in 04 he was ancient.

Weird. McCann and Huddy are both gone they were the last from the streak. We have no ties to the streak on this team so for me it's a brand new era of braves baseball.
