GDT #31: 5/5/14 Cardinals vs Braves 7:10 PM

A 98 mph fastball on the absolute lower black of the plate is not an easy pitch to hit, especially with the possibility of an off-speed pitch. Best he could have done with that pitch anyway was what Gattis just did

I agree. Again, wouldn't expect him to get a base hit. But a million things could have happened. Foul tip, he could have hit a dribbler and it could have been thrown away.

Where did I say that? I've played baseball. I understand the concept of having to protect on 0-2, not leaving the bat on your shoulder assuming every pitcher is going to throw you junk or a pitch above your head like some pitching coaches preach.

Never said Justin sucked, or that he would have hit that pitch.

You were implying that.

I played on the same team with Terry Shumpert and Steve Finley in what you call AAU ball today vs the early 80's version. I batted 2nd behind Shumpert and in front of Finley so I am not an idiot in baseball, but sometimes the umpire can mess with your head with those calls and this is a clear evidence of that happening to a very good baseball player.

I've been rung up a few times. Umpires are very capable of screwing with a player's head. This is true. Sorry if I hold major leaguers, especially talented ones to slightly higher standards.
