GDT-4/13: Braves vs. Gnats; Is Eight Enough?

I sure hope so. If he wants to get traded he better start acting like he gives a damn.

Maybe he wants to stay but is hoping to get Fredi fired, either that or a bad slump or worse his wrist again. I don't even want to think about it being his wrist again because if it is that could have a long-term effect.

We're 0-8 and he's hitting .080... If his wrist is bothering him, just go on the DL.

Obviously, I am hoping it's not his wrist but I wouldn't be surprised if it is. Either way, I have concerns about it long-term so that is why I would be more apt to trade him in the right deal (such as getting AJ Reed and Tyler White back from Houston). Same as I said this past off-season, that is why it annoyed me when Braves said they wouldn't even listen on Freeman. I wouldn't at least listened and if blown away do it same as with Miller.

You can't win if you don't score (duh!), but Wisler's problem is that he seems to get in a negative groove and then the other side goes yard (often within a couple of hitters). He keeps the ball in the park and he could be a top-tier starter. What he lacks in raw stuff he makes up for in grit. Youngster grit, but grit nonetheless.

Curious to see how Cervenka does. He's logged some serious bus miles in the minor leagues. Control issues appear to be his Achilles heel. But major league history is rife with guys like Cervenka who "find it" in their mid-20s, develop into a fungible LOOGY, and hang around the bigs for a decade. Here's hoping that happens for him. I just wish he went by his first name, Colby.

So is this one of the all-time low points for the major league team?

This year or in the history of the franchise? Again, I'm old and have been following the team for 50+ years. I'll wait until September to judge low points. Let's just say this edition of the Braves could be in the running for that dubious honor.

At least the Atlanta Braves history. I mean I can handle losing and I fully expected it. But with the arrest and who knows what else that's going to happen. Just seems like an awesome way to end the Turner Field era.
