GDT 4/15/26: Braves vs Marlins - Tax Day Baseball

He ended up closing the game out too.

Peak Farnsworth = blown save in the playoffs.

Non-peak Farnsworth = save in the playoffs

Baseball.

Yah.

By 2010 he was topping out at like 92mph.

2005 though he was gassing it like 99-100 as our closer in second half. Still sad over the Berkman at bat.

I'll never forget how great Farnsworth was for us that half season.

JS picked up Jim Brower on waivers from Cinncy RIGHT before we went up to Cinncy (Jorge Houdini Sosa's first start IIRC).

Our bullpen was lol.

Gryboski had lost a few MPH on the sinker.
Retisma was blowing games. 95mph fastball and changeup everyone raved about but was still serving up homers.
Kolb smashing gatorade coolers.
Drafted Joey Devine and were so desperate for bullpen help we fasttracked him to majors and ruined him.
Foster was our only lefty until McBride was called up. Bobby consistently using him in high leverage gassing 89mph against Ryan Howard, Thome, Beltran.

Farnsworth wasn't even a closer but our bullpen sucked so bad when we acquired him he was instantly our best reliever. Gassing 99mph and nasty slider

Hopefully AA is coaching Weiss how to manage Elder’s workload so he can start a game 1 and game 4 in the NLDS.

Elders not made of paper machete like the other pitchers. He could ramp it up to 220 innings. I hope he gets to 200 because he might be the last one to do it for a long time.

Before Acuña was up if we’re thinking of the same game. I was at that game, and the weather was awful. Joe Maddon said after the game that it was the worst weather he’s ever seen a game played in and it should’ve been postponed. The day before it was like 70 and sunny in Chicago.
