GDT 4/16/2023: Braves @ Royals - Playing our Tromp Card

But honestly, when Arcia/TDA/MH2 are back is there any room for a Nozuna?

Here is how I see the roster shaping up (granted no injuries to others)
Fried replaces Danny Young
Travis replaces Tromp
Harris replaces White
Arcia replaces one of those OF -- I doubt they get rid of Adrianza at this point due to him playing so many positions.

I am not sure who Iglesias and McHugh would replace. Tonkin and ?

You think TDA goes back behind the dish this season? 5 concussions is a lot. Full time DH duties would significantly mitigate the risk. I think its a solid bet that Tromp out produces Ozuna as well.

Ozuna needs to be DFA'd if/when everyone is close to getting back. Just a giant waste of a roster spot.

It strongly depends on the assessment of TDA. If the Braves would like to minimize his time behind the plate then some type of move would need to be made. Arcia likely reclaims his SS position upon his return. Grissom would likely be the LF/UTIL. In that scenario Tromp needs to remain on the roster as the backup C. That leaves 3 spots for Rosario Hilliard Pilliar and Ozuna. I could see us moving Rosario but not just to keep Ozuna on the roster. There's just nowhere to play him.

Ozuna is no doubt the odd man out but will they get rid of him owing him so much money is the question. I don’t remember the Braves ever eating money like that.

Corporate ownership almost negates the opportunity to DFA Ozuna with over $30M still owed. Now, if all the share holders would agree to forfeit dividends maybe it could happen.
Just another aside but has anyone considered that TDA may have to take medical retirement? That would even further diminish the possibility of DFA Ozuna.

Why would it matter? Ozuna remains on the same pay schedule whether he’s on the team or not. AA would likely need McGuirk to sign off on cutting Ozuna since he reports to him but I would be shocked if AA were to be told no on any move that didn’t increase payroll.

He's never left. People dissect him to death...perhaps deservedly, but the trade posts..those are the real winners.

Showing that his plate discipline has deteriorated is not “dissecting him to death”. I hope someone on the Braves is alerting him to things he needs to improve upon so he can continue to be a star.

Very good things ….
Ronald Acuna Jr. Yeah. Him. (He did make a base running error. Hopefully he grows out of that in time, but he also stole third.)

Good things:

…. Lineup is scoring a lot. Every night.
Ozzie looks like he’s ‘bout to streak, Grissom is impressing with his bat and his D looked a little better tonight.
Olson is amazing at first digging out some very difficult throws. Oh, and he hit a triple that coulda’ been inside the parker… assuming they leave it as a triple and not a single with 2 base error.
Minter Ecking !
Nick Anderson !

These guys are lethal. Our BP is just so good - yeah, I know Tonkin gave up a lead.

Kyle Wright looked like a whole new dude today.

When our pitching coach visits the mound, our pitching actually improves - dramatically and immediately.

Double Sweeps !!

Max and Mike back - as someone said above,
We have amassed the best record in the NL without these two.
We are about to get a whole lot better……

Mets are at Dodgers - we need to take care of some SD business.

“There’s a few all stars in there”
