GDT 4/20: Holmes is the Easter Beagle

The thing is, Ronnie needs to shut up. He needs to let 2019's incident go. His contract has 3 years left, and rather than throw slurs, he needs to focus on the rest of 2025 and the next three seasons, focus on playing 450 games over those next three years. There is no chance he's with the Braves come 2029. It may behoove the Braves to put his arrogant tush on the block this winter. If he has one more big injury, he may not have any value.

Slurs? Lol coming from your racist ass, and your ridiculous posting history, this isn’t a surprising post. You and your ignorant 1950’s opinions should just go away

Oh if you only knew the truth, but you would run me off for that too. I am one of the most progressive and open-minded people on this board. Trust me when I say I don't think like the typical fair-skinned southern Appalachian. If you ask me, Ronnie is going to end up playing with his brother wherever that may be. But at this point, Acuna is one injury away from joining Heyward in the Braves' what-might-have-been HOF.

No. Ronnie shouldn't shut up. Nor stay in his place. He said what he said. Sorry the establishment don't like his 'arrogant tush.'

If you say so. But the way you word some of your posts you come off different than the progressive person you say you are. Maybe I’m just misinterpreting what you say by the words you choose. Saying ‘If it were me, they would take me out of the game’, for example, is not a slur.

Anyway, I’ll take your word for it and move on

The thing is, we should have a manager that should hold everyone to the same standard and not create conflict with your franchise player. And certainly, we should have a manager that should be the aware that the optics look really bad when you bench black players like Acuna and Ozuna for doing the exact same thing while not benching white players that do it.

Regardless if you think this was racially motivated or not, the optics are what the optics are. And Snit should have the awareness to get in front of it and not only have the opportunity to be consistent with his philosophy, but actively reach out to Acuna and Ozuna together and apologize for either missing it completely as he says or not being consistent. Ignoring this like it will blow over will likely lead to more bitterness and resentment and stands to divide the team. If we had better leadership, perhaps it would have been addressed already.

It is mind boggling that anyone would support Snit in this scenario. He is the only one that comes out looking bad in all of this.

Snit is a 70 year old white dude. If he wasn't a little racist, it would be extremely surprising.

That doesn't mean he is burning crosses or calling folks racial slurs under his breath. But if you sat with him long enough, he'd probably say some off the cuff remark like calling Asians "orientals" and thinking it's ok.
IDK man. 70 aint what it used to be.

I'd need to see proof before assuming that about people.

I've seen hes a moron that misses the minutia consistently. Its not really more complicated than that.

Saying "MUH Racism" is lazy and its just what people want to see.

Dude was standing by himself at the top of the dugout when it happened lol. He didn’t “miss” anything. It’s a clear double standard with zero explanation other than…..racial bias at best.

People can be racist or have a bias without wearing a white hood and actively hating minorities. Pretending absolutely nothing is racist or even biased has got to be by design at this point.

He was raised during the Civil Rights movement. There is very good chance anyone that age has a little racist tendencies. Racism isn't always intentional.

To be fair, that's how it's always gonna be. Stuff we do or say now will be considered faux pas in 30 years.

Having said that, you are correct in that you can't say for sure what his intentions were in this scenario. But the optics are bad, punishing the blacks on the team and giving the white guy a pass for the same exact thing.

When Bobby Cox pulled the great Andruw Jones out of a game for lackluster play and going for a ball that he didn’t catch, it was one of the most emasculating things I’ve seen on the baseball field, but absolutely necessary. Bobby Cox explained it. Andruw Jones accepted it and for the most part you never saw that from Jones as a Brave again.

Fast forward to Acuna and the problem wasn’t that he pulled Acuna because he absolutely should have. But it is absolutely a double standard not to take some kind of action against Kelenic. If not during the game, he should not have started the next game or you should’ve made a statement saying that it was unacceptable. None of that happened.

Like it or not, it comes off as disingenuous to say I didn't see it...or whatever Snit keeps saying. There is tension or resentment there. I'll refrain from the race thing....but....there's a tinge of bullsh... that ain't mathing up.

Ronnie does dumb stuff like that all the time. We literally comment on it here all the time about how he might be the dumbest great player of all time. Stealing 2nd in spring training off an injury comes to mind.

Snit is 4 years older now. He's yawning during games. He ain't the same fire in the belly guy that came here. That is exactly where he's losing the team and why EY and Wash were so important.

We have all made the comments here about that too.

People see what they want to see.

So he's 4 years older and not smarter? And IF this was a one off, and if Ronnie loafs again, Snit should STFU. People see bs. At least I do.

The biggest issue I see is that even if you want to take Snit at his word and paint him in the best light possible he's no longer doing the bare minimum. He's never been here for his tactical genius but now he's not watching games which is causing him to make decisions that are causing drama in the clubhouse. He needs to be let go.

I don't think it's so much him being racist as it is being old school to the point where you hit a home run and put your head down and run with no show boating. Ronnie is the complete opposite and likes to show boat and I think that is what Snit hates. He likes old school boring baseball and wants it to be that way. Acuna brings fire to the team and he makes it fun to watch. We all know that Snit saw the Kelenic play live but him lying about it just makes it worse.

twit is an idiot and should be fired.. that is basically all that needs to be said. It is now clear players...very important players, don't like him... move him now and install someone like Eddie Perez to keep the Latino contingent happy.
