GDT 4/21/25: Braves vs Cardinals - Kelenic moves up

Fk Frenchy

The same guy who sucked so bad he got sent down and felt "betrayed". Fk that guy.

Oh..and the same guy that said he was pissed at Bobby Cox for sitting him for 3 straight games because he made Ryan Langerhans look like Rod Carew. Give me a break.
Yup. More of the good old boy network sticking up for each other.

Gonna divert off the racism tangent everyone loves to be on lately

We were discussing who the next leader of this team was, and folks went back and forth on it in one of the gamethreads.

I think we have our answer.

It is Austin Riley. He answered the media's pointed criticisms head on, and took ownership. And for the last week is playing like his hairs on fire.

I don't like Frenchy at all, but he hustled his azz off as far as I can tell when he played.
Don't let the good ol Jeffrey you see now snow you. He was a brooding piece of egotistical ass. When he didn't get his way he pouted his ass off. Went to New York and talked about he needed a better place to play..Yada Yada...he could run to hell with his ass on fire and I wouldn't give a crap about that dude.

That aw shucks good ol boy image don't mean jack.

He seemed entitled as hell when he turned down the same contract offer that the team gave McCann.

Francoeur has always been dumb and high on himself. If he didn’t criticize snit at all for “missing” what happened then his agenda is even more clear.

I never had great disdain for Francoeur and I know that I have criticized Acuna for lacking baseball sense, but by comparison with Acuna, who may have needed a remedial class or two, Francoeur was a consistent passenger on the short bus.

Just listened to it. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be as I agree on a few of his points regarding the distraction and throwing his teammate under the bus. But parroting the “we won a WS without him” mantra is idiotic, as is defending Snitker on this in any way. Also, he said that we probably wouldn’t be talking about this if Ronald hadn’t tweeted. Except that’s all anyone was talking about immediately after well before Ronald chimed in.

I’m not saying Ronald is wrong for feeling like that, but if he doesn’t say what he did on social media, likely, we’re no longer giving this a thought. Acuna should have not said that, but Snit also should have been paying attention and not making his answers make it worse on him. All things can be true. Probably a team meeting when Acuna gets back with the big club.

I personally hope they already worked it out over the phone.

It has been belabored a bit over the past couple of off-seasons, but I think Snitker is a bit at sea given he lost a lot of clubhouse leadership that he relied upon. This isn't about Freeman or Swanson moving on (the gravel on that road has now been crushed down to sand), but I would venture a guess that Kelenic would have gotten the side-eye and some salt from either of those guys if they were still here.

Acuna is Acuna. I'm not saying he's a bad teammate or anything like that. He's just a guy who says (or writes) what's on his mind. Him calling out Kelenic is in an entirely different galaxy than Goose Gossage and Cliff Johnson resorting to fisticuffs in the Yankees' Bronx Zoo locker room of the late-1970s and I don't know why people are getting worked up about it. Acuna has a valid point. Snitker called him out for an inexcusable base-running blunder but somehow Kelenic appears to be getting a free pass for something even more egregious.

I honestly don't think he called out Kelenic.. he basically called out Twit.

I will say this: I’ve often refrained from criticisms of Brian Snitker. I’ve had a thought about coaches and managers that they’re not perfect, they’ll make mistakes and I’ll kind of hold back (with the exception of Mike McCarthy). Now don’t take that for me saying Snit is one of the best managers, because he’s not been. But this ordeal, Snitker has not handled well. His answers since then have warranted criticism. And, if it hasn’t already, has to make Braves fans wonder. I have already had the belief this is his final season. These last few days has to make any Braves fan wonder if the front office needs to have a conversation now with him.
