GDT 4/23/24: Braves vs Marlins - Get it together Fried

Based on these last two games I expect the Ace of the staff to no hit them. They are a glorified AA lineup. I am curious how the next few weeks will play out with the rotation since we have quite a few off days coming. We could use Fried/Lopez on regular rest to line them up with the Dodgers series rather than having Morton/Elder in game 2 and 3 of that series.

This is why I am not ready to proclaim Fried is back just yet. The fish are horrible and fried was getting an inch off the corner against right, handed hitters all night. I’m interested in seeing the stat cast data to see if that flat fastball is actually started to move again

From what I saw on Twitter, he basically ditched his sweeper last night and went back to the slider

From what Ive seen so far, Lopez is not going every five days, not even close. He pitched last Tuesday and they inserted two pitchers into the rotation to make sure he had six days rest. Hopefully this is all part of the ramp-up process and not a lingering issue.

This definitely feels like a planed workload reduction for whole staff hopefully.

And I really hope they just give Olson a day off. Just let him watch the game and not have to think about hitting. Could do him good to get out of his own head.

I think this is going to be an all year thing. He’s been a relief pitcher for a few years. It’s not reasonable to expect he can handle a SP workload over a full season.

Man, my daughters last dance comp is this weekend at the Gaylord and I am probably going to miss most of the Braves/Clev series... man that should be good baseball there.
