GDT 4/25: Marlins @ Braves

I don’t think anyone was ever truly worried about Ozzie. He always does this - coupla weeks of suck and Mississippi wants to send him back to low A - and then a coupla weeks of cooperstown .. and then you turn around and it’s September and he’s got 30 knocks, 7 triples and 100 RBI

Sort of. He’s hitting.190/.600 left handed, .406/1.100 right handed. Allowing for a .250 differential for sliders and curveballs to break away, if he went RH full time, he’d hit .850 against righties and you’d have a hall of Famer.
 
I sort of knew our starting pitching would be good, but this is looking to be better than I thought. I still don't buy into Mort being anything more than our #5.. But with Elder still proving he belongs and (hopefully) old Soroka looming second half, our starting rotation could be epic. The biggest key to me is having Fried and Strider healthy going into the playoffs. That 1 - 2 punch can hang with any in the league. Then the Braves other starters would be on par or better than most other teams.

My way, way too early dream is to have a healthy Fried/Strider/Soroka/Wright going into the playoffs and have Elder and Mort being dominate BP guys to use as a weapon to piggy back to our elite BP guys.

The only thing I can say for the ump was he seemed to at least be consistant between both teams. .07 runs is not big. So he had a big zone.. as long as he calls it for both sides, then I can live with it. Not saying he is a good ump.. just be equally bad for both teams and it is surviable.

btw for those wondering what happened to the Braves home run hat in the dugout, here's what happened.

the company that provides hats to MLB, who also makes the hat the Braves wore for home runs, called MLB to complain. so MLB made the Braves stop using it.

The #Braves today placed RHP Joe Jimenez on the paternity list and recalled LHP Danny Young to Atlanta. Additionally, OF Michael Harris II tonight begins a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett.
