GDT 4/28/23: Braves (Fried) @ Mets (Peterson) - 7:10 PM EST

Welp they went ahead and postponed it... Thought they may try and play it later as it should clear. I don't see tomorrow getting in either in that case.

Remember when folks were posting Freeman’s WAR vs Olson’s WAR after every single game last year?

Any idea why that’s not happening this year?

I did not expect Olson to become prime Joey Gallo but here we are.

Hit 40 homers and walk 15% of the time and I can live with the 35% k rate. Otherwise, a little worrisome!

I’m pretty amazed by Freddie though. He can just fall out of bed and hit .300. He reminds me so much of John Olerud in that way.

Olson’s more than held up his end of the bargain as Freddie’s replacement so no sense debating that anymore (2nd in WAR among MLB 1B). But it’s such a shame Freddie was such a beta during the contract negotiations.

Watching padres giants - Vegas over/under was 15.5 runs. That’s gotta be the highest one of those on history.

No way that hits - Vegas accounting for the altitude, I get it …. But that’s an incredibly high number.

Score in the 8th: 14-11 …. There have been home runs so far!

I am wondering if MLB let a coupla’ cases of the old juiced balls from 1998 find their way to Mexico and Las Vegas got wind of it …

Mexico City is Coors Field 1.5x… and I assume they are not using a humidor nor is the ballpark near as big.

Love watching golf tournaments in Mexico City. Can’t wait to play a round there one day myself.

11 dingers -

And as for the golf, we used to play at the snowmass club in the roaring fork valley way up in the Colorado rockies when I was a kid - some of those drives have still yet to land. In all seriousness it is a trip to hit a six iron and watch it just never seem to land after hitting millions of them at low altitude.
