GDT 4/28/25: Braves @ Rockies - Get That Rocky Mountain High

While there's a lull in the action, has anyone attended a Braves game in Denver? I went to one last July (lost by one with the tying run on third when the game ended) but I remember being impressed by (1) the size of the outfield and how much ground there is to cover and (2) how chilly it was for a night game in the middle of summer. Looking at the Braves fans at this game in sweatshirts doesn't surprise me a bit.
Yes I live here. I try to go to at least one, usually two every time the Braves come to town. I will be going tomorrow and Wednesday. April is not a good month for baseball here - it's still winter, more or less, and it can snow out. In fact I went to the coldest game in history here back 2013. The rest of the months the weather is great, and it's always cool at night outside of late June - early August.

The stadium is huge - in fact the upper deck right field used to be seats and they converted it to a bar area several years ago. I think originally the stadium could hold something like 50,000. Denverites will come out to see a good team but even these days they will come out if the weather is nice.

I went to a game there on opening day one time - they were playing the Giants- weather was great- was probably ten years ago- but I was impressed with the park- and the surrounding area seemed plenty nice enough- but again, it’s been awhile

So what do we do with Ozuna next year? Ozuna has been amazing the last 2 years but Acuna needs to start seeing a lot of time there coming up and with Baldwin and Murphy both they could rotate out there some to.

I dont see how they could let our best hitter go with the offensive struggles we already have. Ozuna seems to like it here and being a DH only will ward off a lot teams. I dont think they need to DH Acuna. Doing so would be more about his long term health and he wont be here in 5 years.

I tend to agree. I'm all for resting Acuna more often, but they absolutely cannot let Ozuna walk.

I know. I'm saying do you try to resign him for next year.
Assuming he continues to hit at current levels through the end of the year I think you have to bring him back. He should cost significantly less than what it would take to replace his production.

If the plan is to rotate Acuña through the DH spot, who do you get that can competently play the outfield for a third to half the games, is willing to DH the rest of the time, and will approximate Ozuna's offense at a reasonable cost? That has to be a very short list.

If we need to DH Acuña more, and I agree with those who say it's a good idea, we'd likely be better off having Marcell stand in LF for 20 games or so than bringing in a lesser hitter who might save a few more (or cost a few less) runs.

If/when Olson can get his launch angle corrected, he is going to go on an absolute tear. He is sporting career bests in K%, BB%, average EV, and Hard Hit%. Dude is absolutely murdering the ball, but he's getting no loft. He has a 70! point delta between his wOBA and his xwOBA.

May could be a really fun month if Olson can get that figured out, combined with the return of the king.

If you look at his break out.. the first two weeks he was brutally unlucky.. when looking at wOba/xwOBA.. these last 2 he has narrowed the gap. But I agree, he could absolutely go on a seek and destroy mission if he continues to hit the ball this hard.
