GDT 4/29: Maximum Spin Rates = Mariners Out of Time

Why bother watching if you are gonna be this pessimistic. Bad games happen.

Because its frustrating seeing guys like Kelenic bust their ass to contribute just see Acuna, Ozzie, and Riley to get set up and tore down by an Austin Voth special....

Had to check it out.. so Minter has thrown 98 games in the 9th inning and is supporting almost a ER higher than any other inning. His ERA for the 8th is 2.55 versus 4.62 in the 9th...

one of AA nerds should get this info to twit immediately and let him know under no circumstance should Minter be asked to try and close a game. JJ/prince albert/chavez/left handed Stridder all should be considered before making Minter the closer when Riggy isn't available.. And this is coming from a person who absolutely hates, I mean hates reliever roles.. a reliever should be used based on situation not inning. But since that will never happen, someone needs to tell twit that Minter (especially when the first 4 guys are RHH or strong side RH hitter) Minter might have not been the right call there..

Now I know that Minter is the best you have at that point and you might be committing managerial suicide if you put Chavez out there over Minter... but it might have been a better run if you had Minter in prince alberts role or JJ role and one of them closing. I guess easy in hind sight.. but me as a casual fan remembered all the melt downs Minter has had trying to close a game.

End result doesn't really matter. Fried looking like a top 5 starter in the NL again does.

I dont think Fried looked that great, I think the Mariners are just that bad. I would like to see a good start vs atleast a AAA caliber lineup first before I proclaim that Max is back. The Mariners and Marlins are glorified AA lineups.

Minter is the best reliever in the pen outside of Iglesias with no pronounced splits. There was nothing wrong with throwing Minter against the middle of their order last night.
