I made note from a spring game that his fastball was moving towards avg pitch based on the extreme small sample size. But the extra movement and small velo tick made the pitch average. Of course an average pitch located well in combination with 2 plus pitches is actually a good thing. I can’t wait to get a hold of his savant page after my yard work.
 
I don't remember Schwelly getting it up to 98 last year. If he can do that regularly and not get hurt we are in a good spot.

MLB Network thinks the Braves aren’t going to make the playoffs and that the Phillies are going to run away with the East. Greg Amsinger literally said that we were a terrible team yesterday.

I’d like to give them a nice shit burger to eat.
 
hmm.. Schwely's splitter is coming in with less spin, so it is not moving as much as last year... acting more like a true change up now. wonder if that is small sample noise or if he is changing it..

His slider is still death.. has a good cutter.. the fast ball is still below average but I think plays well off his cutter and sinker.
 
Look, the details are fine, but the important thing is that Schwellenbach is the greatest pitcher in the history of the game.
 
Allen has earned a shot. As long as he keeps performing, he should be playing. I don’t know if he is the answer moving forward, but he wouldn’t be the first guy to take a couple of years to figure it out, then become solid.

I suspect that Arcia will get another shot as well, but his leash is going to get shorter each time.

The thing is, the fastball may be below average but he knows how to locate it

Let's hope we get 100% Acuna because if he's playing like he did after he came back from the first ACL, the upgrade will be rather modest. Just hope Strider can stay healthy for a nice long time now, knock on wood. I want to see a playoff rotation of SS^2 and Sale so bad.

Hula just showed the metrics on his heater and I’m not sure why folks would think it’s below average. It’s like 2 mph harder than average and the scatter plot of the movement profile sits right on top of the average shadow.

Average velocity paired with average movement is an above average pitch because it’s rare to be good at both things. Plus velocity paired with average movement is a plus pitch, especially with his plus execution of it.

Schwelly is a TOR guy who folks will argue over the semantics of “Ace”.
