GDT 4/6/24: Braves vs D-Backs - Life after Strider

Super small sample size but Kelenic has an xBA of .354 so he's legit on fire.
Kelenic was the most interesting thing to watch early in the season, and he has not disappointed.

He’s obviously not going to maintain a .625 BA based on a .769 BABIP, but the 11% walk rate and 16% K rate are very encouraging.

The .423 xwOBA is a nice number, but it’s misleading because his weak base hits have high xwOBA. So while those types of hits are legit, making that type of contact is not a sustainable skill. This is a great example of small sample problems with xwOBA.

The question I would ask now is: “why not give him the PAs vs LHP?”. If he’s really going to turn into a LHH Riley, let’s see him on that path sooner rather than later.
