What makes you think Sanchez will bounce back after being so bad the last few years? He had an ERA over 6 last season. I think he would make a decent long man and hope he's not in the 5th spot long. I agree with you on Teheran, though I could see him still having issues at home. I think McCarthy will be fine as long as he stays healthy. That is the main concern I have with him.
I thought Sanchez was worth a flier even before we signed him. I tend to see some value in pitchers with high home run rates but good strikeout to walk numbers. Of course, Sanchez' home run per fly ball numbers have been high for three seasons now. So maybe there is nothing there. But I think HR/FB has a lot of noise in it. Almost like BABIP against for pitchers.
The guys struck out almost a hitter per inning last year and had a walk rate per 9 of less than 3. He needs some of those fly balls to stay in the ballpark though. And Coors is a tough park for his style of pitching.
