Was that comment really necessary Enscheff?

I am more concerned that he is out talking to little league rejects. Are their parents that upset with them for failing at little league that they are cool with a grown man talking to their kids. What is going on out there in California

Yeah. But he’s from Nevada, so it makes more sense.

The dude legit strikes me as a narcissist.

Well he is very intelligent and know his stuff baseball wise that is for sure but his maturity I do question. He severely lacks in that department.

I am not putting him down but his posting crap like this offset his brilliance in other things. Immature people posts what he did.

He needs to show some humility is all I am asking.

Also, this thread is a dumpster fire. Scherzer is one of the best. You RARELY beat him when he’s on like that.

Beat him? No. But to go one over the minimum and him throw only 102 pitches is a bit embarrassing.

I don't know if it was the weather, jet lag from flying east across country, the fact it was CB Bucknor behind the plate, or just an off night all around. But if you ask this team I don't think there's a man I'm the lineup who would say they did their best last night.

My feeling is you've won the million dollar lottery if you manage to have a game in which you really make Scherzer work (which happened Wednesday last week), and then turn around so quickly and do it again. Be real, how likely is it?

Perhaps though, I should go back on vacation as I was in the car during pretty much all of that first game.

Sometimes there is nothing you can do. If a HOF like Max is pounding the zone with high quality pitches you are going to get games like this. It's like being upset when Maddux had those 80 pitch complete games. Just tip your hat to a beast and move on.

Even Maddux didn't get 80 pitch complete games without opposing hitters helping him out. That's the only thing that upsets me about last night. A lot of bad ABs where we gave up quick outs.

I don't think we beat Scherzer last night without getting some pretty great luck on balls falling in. But at least make him throw 120 pitches to pitch a complete game. In April on a cold night, I don't think the Nats let Scherzer go that long. Maybe you get a shot at their closer if you could just make Scherzer work for some outs.

I don't expect anything like that first game against Scherzer to happen a second time. Especially not with the way he was throwing last night. I'd have been happy to have him at 110-115 pitches through 8. If that happens the Nats would be stupid to send him back out at this point in the season. At least give ourselves a chance at someone out of the pen.

When you K 10 and pitch a complete game on 102 pitches, you've had a lot of short ABs. Just would have been nice to see some guys extend some ABs, get Scherzer's pitch count up, and get a crack at someone not named Scherzer. At the very least, take a strike or two instead of grounding out on the first or second pitch. When you have a guy pitching like Scherzer was last night, your only hope is to get him out of the game.

Great pitchers tend to cause a lot of bad abs. I think you are underestimating making someone like Max 'work' when he had his A+ stuff going.

No, I believe the answer would be (and probably was) “you just gotta tip your cap”.
