GDT 5/1 - MAY DAY!

I could not be more bored by this Get-Off-My-Lawn competition within the Braves' booth right now.

Shocking to admit how much I miss Francoeur's voice. Shocking how annoying Glavine is as an announcer.
 
I used to love watching Griffey Jr. do his strut after knowing he hit a homer. As a kid, I think many kids would imitate o his smooth strut walk and admiring his homer.

Griffey is from Glavine's era.
 
Wife is sitting here and says “what in the hell are they complaining about?”

It is a nightly thing where these announcers spend 20 minutes talking about how terrible baseball is nowadays instead of talking about how awesome it is.

He is ok with Acuna and Ozuna doing it because they do it consistently but it would have never happened in his day.

He thinks if Acuna stared 4 seconds longer it's a problem.

So bizarre.
 
It’s a disservice to this entire franchise that we have one of the most exciting rosters in the league and have to listen to these dinosaurs talk about the state of the game on a nightly basis. There are so many qualified broadcasters that would make this team even more fun to watch by adding some actual information, but this is what we are stuck with because of who someone’s dad was.

He is struggling to assign logical rules to something that is completely irrational.

Guys get excited, and guys get mad. Whatever they do when those things happen will not be logical.

And then people wonder why baseball isn't finding more purchase with younger and/or new demographics. Might help if the announcers actually sold the product.

Different times.

Acuna is always in a no win situation.

He's carried the team on his back before and people gave him **** for watching a long single.

Wish people just appreciated what we have.

He hustles too much IMO and he needs to learn from Trout and stop hustling so much to save his body.

There is a certain irony to pitchers getting insecure and getting their feelings hurt by watching hitters admire homeruns on bad pitches they threw.

Kind of like a metaphor for how modern Trumpism politics tries to cater to middle aged white men afraid of minorities being the majority in this country soon.
 
Glavine said one thing correctly during that rant he was on.

Pitchers don't like getting embarrassed.

Solution: Don't give up homers and pitch better.

There were tons of pitchers who would get fired up back in the day. Like Alfonseca, Urbina, Rod Beck, etc.
