You know, the Braves put Riley in LF back in 2019 to get his bat into the lineup and fill a hole and it worked out well. They even tried it with Contreras, even though it didn’t work out as well. Why does it seem like the Braves have gotten progressively dumber over the years?

His metrics look good by and large, but his drop in launch angle is really noticeable. His LA has been the exact same value for the last four years, but now it’s down to 10.8deg. That makes the EV less impressive, since it’s easier to beat a ball hard into the ground. It’s not the kind of hitter he should be.

The Braves inability to hit junk baller LHP since the dawn of time is the damndest thing I’ve ever seen and needs to be studied.
 
AJ seems different since being called back up. I saw that him and Schwellenbach have been working together so maybe he's learned another pitch.
