What a nice way to get Gohara's feet wet for 2017. I got to admit, Snitker has been managing the team much better this season. He's been pulling the right strings with these guys and deserves some credit for it. Didn't think I'd ever say as much coming into this year.

it certainly is if you don't like being called ignorant for no good reason! Perhaps you guys and gals have gotten too used to the status quo, too used to being bullied into submission?

I would love to hear more of your insights into Folty’s control, especially compared to other Braves SPs.

I agree...i think some of the second guessing is unwarranted

Might be a complete wash of a season this year.

Maybe... could also be a chance that last year's dominance was a blip on the radar. There's a reason or 2 that Mariners traded him... and just as a preemptive parry against the binary thinkers in here, this comment is coming from a HUGE Gohara fan. Just saying, we might all be putting unrealistic expectations on him

already gave them to you in a previous post... but I'll repeat since you asked nicely: command & control are two completely different discussions. you are talking control, I'm talking command.

Great. Now rather than stating a cliche, how do you think those relate to Folty and other Braves pitchers? Specifics please. I’m trying to learn.

Tehteh claims Newk hits his spots better than Folty. Thoughts?

Biddle, maybe. I think Gohara was brought into the perfect situation to start out. Wouldn't want him in a close game at the moment.

I agree on Biddle being the better option if the game had stayed tied...i think he's earned a look in some higher leverage situations

Last 3 or 4 games, no doubt about it - Newcomb has reached unprecedented levels w/ his command (While Folty has been trending the other way, IMO). Based on what little knowledge I have, just my own observations: here's how I rank them, in terms of their current ability to command the baseball consistently (list warning):

1. McCarthy
2. Newcomb
3. Teheran
4. Soroka
5. Folty

If Anibal was healthy & throwing like he was at the outset of the season, I'd probably have him up there above Newcomb...maybe?

I would just like to state, for the record, that I am a Folty fan too. I just get frustrated w/ the guy sometimes, and lately he's been driving me crazy. I like FBs that miss bats, and his is so much better in that regard when he doesn't overthrow. Lately he's been trying to throw the ball 500mph, it's been straight as an arrow and nobody knows exactly where it will end up. His stuff is so much better when it is 94-96 w/ great movement than 98-100 w/ no movement at all, and that is what we see when he has stretches of brilliance.
