GDT 5/13/21: Blue Jays (Stripling) @ Braves (Morton) - 12:20 PM

The Braves have 1 pitcher talented enough to reliably face the order a 3rd time, and that's Fried.

Guys like Morton, Anderson and Ynoa are good enough to face batters a 3rd time depending on leverage, platoon matchups, and pitch count.

Acuna and FF need to get this tied. I have no confidence in any other part of lineup.

Stripling 1 k away from career high

3rd time thru, jays hitters are hitting absolute rockets. Brave hitters hit pop ups and soft ground balls

Now Stripling is in position to be pulled after 80 pitches. Allowing him to face Acuna was acceptable due to platoon advantage. Allowing him to face Freeman was acceptable because there were 2 outs and nobody on. Had Acuna reached, the correct move would have been to pull Stripling for a LHP.

In the 6th Stripling will be at 85 pitches and facing a stretch of the lineup with a platoon advantage. It is defensible to allow him to go until he allows a base runner, then go to the BP.

Webb still in. Snit does know that the 3-batter minimum rule also includes ending an inning, right? Webb is free to go rage at cars in the street, or whatever he does when he's not not covering home.

And the brave 3-5 scares absolutely no one outside of AAA

Snit is preserving the BP so well Will Smith hasn't pitched since 5/8...5 days ago.

Meanwhile, the Braves have lost 3 late inning leads the last 3 games.

But yeah, great strategy avoiding the BP by leaving the SP in too long.
