GDT 5/13/24: Cubs at Braves - Rey Rey Mows Down The Cubbies

We've gone 16-8 in our last 24 and lost 4 games to the Phillies. There was a point in there where we went 4-6 and lost 6 games.

As for the tale of two offenses, we can split the season to date in half, and its striking the difference:
First 19: 121-84 (6.36-4.42) 14-5 record
Last 19: 64-54 (3.37-2.84) 11-8 record

Yeah its' been not good even by normal standards, but the pitching has responded in kind. The Braves are 11-5 in those games not played at Dodgers Stadium (their kryptonite), outscoring opponents 58-34 in 16 games.

We've only scored 6 runs in one game in that last 19, and none in the last 14 games. Compared to the first 19, where we did it 12 times. I think this is why I'm not too worried. Right now it's split evenly so it's not entirely clear which is the anomaly. I'm thinking the latter. The lineup is just too good.

The Braves are on pace to win 106-107 games. They are a great team whose offense is scuffling a bit relative to expectations.

This is still very obviously the best roster in the sport.

Last year it was historic hitting.. maybe this year it will be historic pitching

Imagine telling someone 2 months ago the Braves would have 2 starters with a sub 3 FIP and it's not Strider or Fried.
