I don't think Folty will pitch consistently at this level throughout the year, but it seems he's taken a legitimate step forward. Ceiling is still high, and now it looks like the floor is also a little higher.

Yes, which proves he was overthrowing before when staying 97-98 so much. He's averaging more mid-90's now going up and down in velocity throughout the game. Sometimes depending on the count, situation.

I didn't see the entire game and, as much as I hate to say this, it seems like AJ did a pretty good job with Folty and at the plate tonight.

He's certainly improved and seems to only be getting better for most part. Good to see. Great game by him tonight in CF and at the plate.

Folty came in averaging mid-90's tonight at 95.06 mph even after that first start when he overthrew more, so he's had more success with less velo than with throwing it 97-98 mph. He can control it better this way and tonight he pitched to both sides to the plate more often too rather than so many back-to-back fastballs in the same spot and over the heart of the plate.
