GDT 5/14 Braves at KC, or Ned Yost's favorite series ever

The game may be meaningless, but his arm isn't. There is nothing that can be gained by sending him out there when he's over 100 pitches.

Its much easier on the arm to throw 120 pitches over 9 innings than 120 pitchers over 6 innings. Its those 25+ pitch innings that do the damage.

That bum Chacin is through 7 innings tonight and only two runs allowed (on a two run homer), 5 hits allowed. The Angels will likely be able to trade him for something good at the deadline. He's a good pitcher.

Folty came in averaging mid-90's tonight at 95.06 mph even after that first start when he overthrew more, so he's had more success with less velo than with throwing it 97-98 mph. He can control it better this way and tonight he pitched to both sides to the plate more often too rather than so many back-to-back fastballs in the same spot and over the heart of the plate.

He averaged right around 95 at times last year as well. I don't necessarily think he's throwing softer, he's just locating it better and may be going with the 2-seamer a little more often.

Yup. Hard pitch counts are one of the most overrated things in baseball. I would only use them for pitchers coming back from injury. The actual pitch count is meaningless. The stress of those pitches is what kills you. If you are just blowing away people you can go 120+ with ease. Just like Scherzer did the other night.

Man! Folty's last two starts have been great. If he keeps this up, he's at least a #2 going forward. He has the stuff and can miss bats.

Congrats to Mallex for hitting the Braves' first triple of the season tonight...in Game 35. Anyone else surprised by that stat?

Folty has interesting body language, or lack there of.

The shot of him sitting by himself in the dugout with a blank stare, and the lack of emotion on Castro's nice play (according to the replays I saw) make me wonder. I'm just observing out loud, but I wonder if he is at odds at either a team member, or just being on the 2016 Atlanta Braves.

Just watched the highlight reel of his game tonight, and that kid can pitch.

It's just the way he is.

They will learn to like him if he keeps pitching like this.

They had better hurry and fire Fredi quick or else this forum is gonna be pretty disappointed. The way this rotation is firing right now these guys will start to win in spite of themselves!!! This team is coming together and Lord knows Fredi can't get any credit for that:winking0016: Mark my words, this team will be a pleasant surprise in the 2nd half. Maybe even an enjoyable watch!!!

I'll give it to him, Melvin Upton is having a darn fine season both offensively and defensively in left field.

.282/.366, 5 homers, 16 RBI, 7 SB.
