GDT 5/14 Cubs Hosting Braves 2:20 EST

every where i went in chicago was better than every where i've been in NYC. i do not understand the NYC appeal. i'm a homer for philly too, tho.

How much time have you spent in NYC?

decent bit. was walking down 6th a few months ago and it was filthier than ever but i dont care about that.

Give me the NYC culture over a bunch of white Midwesterners any day.

Art, architecture, food, interesting people, economy, symbolism- NYC is unrivaled in those regards.

Agreed. NYC isn’t my cup of tea.

Chicago is swell.

SF is great - if you can get past the feces and needles everywhere.

I couldn’t wait to get out of NYC. Ever been there on trash day? It’s surreal...

Once you get your fill of “interesting people” that opinion will likely change.

I do agree that white folks droning on about the “heartland” and “real America” gets old very quickly though. I certainly wouldn’t want to live amongst it.

At the end of the day, I’m a 2 hour drive from SF, and a 1-2 hour plane ride to anywhere I want to visit. I get to Atlanta once a year for under $1000, which is all the southern experience I can handle.

There is nothing any large city could offer that makes up for all the negatives. Younger folks are drawn to all the “interesting” stuff though.

Trash day in NYC is hilarious.

The heir apparent to Ancient Rome and you've got an aroma of piss and rotten foodstuffs in the air. You can't make that stuff up.

Mix it in with the constant police/firefighter sirens and a subway that is largely dilapidated and home to rats the size of American footballs. Oh, and don't forget about the constant noise from flights into LaGuardia, Newark, and JFK.

And the tourist choppers.

LOL.

Heaven on Earth.

every day isn't trash day there?

The garbage is literally piled up 6-10’ high in front of every building because there is no “out back” to keep it. Walking down the street is like walking through a dump.

You will never find footage on it though haha.
