Moderate winter... slightly cooler than hell today

I'm the kind of person that can manage a less fire-&-brimstone, more Dantean version of inner-hell (so: frozen lake), as long as the summers aren't too hot and are pretty reasonably dry. Northern Arizona and Montana have both been nice in that regard.

I know Joey Bats homered, but on a regular day I think his ball is just a deep fly. It looked like the wind took it out to me. I love it either way.

Chicago actually has a lower-percentage of non-hispanic whites than NYC (31.7% v 33%). You're obviously very unfamiliar with Chicago if you think its culture is "a bunch of white Midwesterners"; it's not like it's Davenport, Iowa.

Food's better in Chicago, too.

That doesn't mean it's more diverse on the whole. There are more languages spoken in Queens alone than in any other municipality in the world.

Chicago is the size of Brooklyn. It's unfair to compare the two, really. I'm sure Chicago has good food (I like their pizza) though.

I would prefer a cooler climate, but my wife can't handle cold at all

Well my point wasn't it's "more diverse", just that it's pretty damn diverse—or, very much not "a bunch of white Midwesterners".

And one thing I like about Chicago is that it's got the population of Brooklyn in four times the area; leads to more topographical diversity, in terms of what the urbs looks like.

The overall point is this is all subjective: New York can be all those centralizing and top-most things you say and still not be the "best" large-city in the US by other criteria.
