GDT 5/18 Braves vs Jays : Stewed Beef edition

I agree Crimson. And with no apologies to Sturg, I want Julio here a long time. We won't get what he's worth anyway. This is not the Teheran I know and love as a brave.

He's had 7 seasons to establish some form of identity as a pitcher...he's too up and down to be a TOR pitcher...he needs to be unloaded.

Teheran has lost what he wants to do. He doesn't know if he's a power pitcher or a a sinker baller. Right now he's lost.

I don't understand the whole "figure out how to pitch in Suntrust" angle. The first three runs didn't score off homeruns. They would be hits in any parks. He gave up 6 runs and the one homerun was killed. That's not a "learn how to pitch in a certain park", rather...learn how to pitch. If anything Suntrust is a mental thing, but the park itself had nothing to do with his performance.

Exactly...he should be in his absolute prime right now. His velocity is up and down, his control is up and down. I don't see this changing except for streaks. I never feel confident until I see him pitch. Will we get good Julio or bad Julio tonight.

One of the dumbest arguments yet. He's stabilized this rotation and has been our number one for four years now. No one bills him as an ace but he's been better than you some suggest. He may be unloaded but not for the stupid "he's not TOR."

Stabilized what? Every starter sports an ERA in the 4s...if anything he's contributed to the embarrassment of it...and being the #1 is exactly what the problem is with this team and that doesn't make him a good pitcher.::

He's got a fastball as flat as snake nuts...he consistently hangs his secondary pitches in the middle of the zone and has lost complete touch with his change up which was once deemed his best pitch. There's no progression with him...it's really high and then extremely low...like tonight.

No way Teheran is unloaded now. No way. He's on a great deal and should not be traded until he builds back his value. He may never do that but he has no value now. You ride him out until he helps you or pitches well enough to get something good back.

Hindsight, he should have been traded at the deadline last year. FO was too short sighted thinking we were going to contend when we clearly weren't. Hindsight is 20/20.

Lmao....just because he's branded our #1 doesn't mean he's Kershaw. Evidently you use ERA and wins and losses as a barometer of a good pitcher. His highest ERA for a full year has been 4.04. The last 7 years, the mlb ERA average is 3.99. So he's had an average year around ERA'S of 3.20, 2.89 and a career ERA OF 3.42. But whatever you need to tell yourself. He's sucking right now but he's not the garbage you portray.

This makes sense

He's not garbage at all and sometimes he is lights out. He just is not consistant. We passed on the perfect storm at the trade deadline and even in the offseason to move him when his value was high. That ship has sailed. We will not get any value that would make it worth trading him now. At least not this year and the further into his contract we go, the less valuable that is also.

I agree...his consistency is maddening....

Even when Julio was 'consistent' he never was truly dominating.

His stuff is mediocre.

Julio wasted 2 of his most productive seasons on a non-contender.

Are folks starting to see why everyone with a clue wanted him to be traded as part of the rebuild?

Except quite a few folks were saying Julio needed to be traded without the benefit of hindsight.

Agreed. He won't ever have great value with this team. He may be traded for bankrupt returns.
