GDT 5/19 Charlie on the hump. Bucket of chicken on standby.

First pitch walkoff was impressive. Man it would be nice to see these guys get going again. They have so much potential.

Yeah, I had kinda written Riley off and for sure didn’t see this coming....feels great to be wrong.

Even Riley didn't see his plate discipline coming.

But samesies. Glad he's proving all of us wrong. Kudos to Seitzer or whomever that's been helping him with this. Probably the analytics department too.

If his plate discipline is real and he’s figuring out how to harness the power with the new approach... it is gonna be yuge

I’d already given up on Riley so I’m loving every bit of it

We’re the doubles we’ll hit? It’s great to see the power coming back.

First double was absolutely crushed to right center.

Riley is just doing what he’s done his whole career. Still doesn’t feel real in the sense he will be a middle of the order hitter but I don’t think he will ever be a black hole in the lineup anymore.

It’s part of pitchers having to throw him strikes. He just us to show he can seriously lay off balls.

That’s a tough order for some people though. Like Cy’s Mom.

Riley is still rocking a .404 BABIP but obviously there’s noticeable improvement in his game. i didn’t have a ton of hope for him left but i’m happy if i’m wrong.

Riley has been in the league longer of course but it’s fun to compare him to Alec Bohm, who’s older, right now. Bohm will be 25 by season’s end and looks really bad. i’d be a little worried if i were the Phils.

That seems reasonable. Board seems to be doing a good job of not getting too high on him.

He's starting to look like a guy you might be very excited about being a starting 3B while he's under team control. The lack of power was worrying me. He has had a lot of HBP.

I still see him as a 250/300/450 type of guy. But I'd be excited to be low.

Good win last night - much needed. I feel like this has been a snakebit team all year. Losing close games, getting bad calls, BAPIDed to death. The pitching has been legit worrying, especially in the new Year of the Pitcher. And through all of that, the Braves are only 3 games back.

As for Riley, I really have to applaud the kid. He works hard. His defense was a liability - and not anymore. He had power, but no plan at the plate - not anymore. You can tell the kid wants to succeed and puts in the work required. He sees all the flaws in him that we see, and addresses them one at a time.
