GDT 5-2 Sale listening to Dead Flowers…..Harris in the lineup

I’m almost to the point where I think the Braves should just assume that Acuña isn’t going to ever play a full season again and plan accordingly.

I'm curious to see how AA approaches the Trade Deadline. It seems pretty safe to say he's going to go big-game hunting for either a SP, lefty reliever or OF.
Rotation is gonna depend on how Strider looks, and what they think of SS2 if/when he returns. Certainly a need, b/c i dont know how much longer you can rely on Perez/Elder, with the schedule getting tougher. I think OF is a need regardless of when Acuna is back. Can upgrade over Yaz.

And they need someone better than Bummer, not really adding anything unobvious there. But Lee, Kinley, Suarez, Iggy is a good backend. Would be massive if Jimenez somehow returned also.

Also, when he returns he needs to DH for a couple of games before hitting the field full time.

“The plan” was to rotate guys through DH to rest them. “The plan” was to rest guys before they got injured in an attempt to keep guys healthy. The reality is Baldwin and Dom have gotten almost all DH PAs.

Would 1 day off their legs every week have prevented the Harris and Acuna injuries? Guess we will never know because Walt can’t seem to use the DH to rest the entire roster.

Not gonna blame Walt for that. He has played the cards he’s been dealt almost perfectly.

Guys get hurt, underperform and are otherwise unavailable at times. Walt has pretty much squeezed everything he can from the roster.

Strider called up, Acuna to 10 day DL. I knew we had to trade someone to the DL to get back Strider but Acuna wasn't on my bingo card. Bad trade imo.

The braves have short stinted guys and then transferred to 60 I'm quite sure
yea.. anyone trying to read the tea leafs is setting themselves up for disappointment.

I find it concerning no one has issued any comments yet. It makes me think they don’t know the severity yet

I would guess MRIs and MRI readings aren't the most acceptable late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

My best guess is a high-leverage lefty reliever is essentially a sure-thing, another starter is very likely and an OF will be dependent on the severity of Ronnie's injury and whether Yaz can make any sort of improvement by the Deadline. Realistically, he and Dubon will platoon anyways soon, so I wouldn't be shocked to see legit improvement soon.

I would have absolutely rested Ronnie at DH once or twice a week, but he’s also just injury prone and we just need to learn to live with that at this rate. The plan was also to have Profar in LF, rotate plenty of bats through DH and let Yaz platoon. Weiss absolutely has to be better, but he’s been damn good relative to expectations, and the injury hand he’s been dealt is tough.

Harris sat at least a couple of times this season before the injury. Acuna got pulled late in a couple of games, but yeah it would have been nice to see him DH at least couple of times before now.

If Ronnie is pulling hammies on weak grounders right out the box it's not gonna matter if he plays the field or DH's.

He wasn't even sprinting on the replay.

Maybe delay the inevitable but yea.. it’s May 2nd. It’s possible extra rest avoids what happened yesterday, but there’s only so much you can do with someone whose body has failed him

Enscheff is also saying he needs to stop trying to steal bases.

That isn't gonna matter either.

I'd be more worried about him separating a shoulder or finger jammed sliding headfirst than him re-tearing an ACL trying to steal a base.
