GDT 5/21 BRAVES vs PHILLIES Seeking back-to-back wins?

Amazing. Braves play like a decent major league team and Snit pushes all the right buttons, but we get all orf two pages of commentary on a day game. Did ya'll not get the memo about the starting time?

This is now three dominant starts from Perez in a two-week period (including Gwinnett) and a much more assured looking bullpen with Krol finding himself. Thank goodness this isn't just a fatalist's message board.

Huh.

They've played wayyyy above their heads and we've played under (not wayyyy, because we are horrible) ours.

I'm not that surprised by our record. But the fact that the Phils are over .500 is astounding. Our line-up is weak, but their line-up looks to actually be worse. It all evens out over time and we'll probably steal one here and there to push our record up a bit, but I don't see how this Phillies' team stays above .500 much longer.

I didn't recall the early time so I am watching the game on replay via my MLB.TV account. Further, just looking at the play by play it looks like Snit took Perez out at the perfect time as his sinker which had been closer to mid-90's and topping out at 96 mph fell down to mostly 88 mph sinkers his last batter or two. So Perez seemed to be tiring at that point. Good job by Snit taking him out at the right time there.

That said, I haven't seen much of the game on replay yet but just reading and what I've seen so far leads me to believe he had a great game.

I think the weather along with the long top of the seventh and the delay including a challenge after Franco got knocked down probably had an effect on Baby Harang's ability to stay loose and maintain his velocity. So it was the right move to take him out even with the low pitch count.

Yeah, I thought it was a good move by Snitker. Williams seemed uncomfortable out there. Another thing I noticed is the velocity drop-off. He hit 95 early and then was into the high 80s at times late with the sinker. Makes me think Williams could be effective down the line as a max-effort reliever with a great combo of velocity and movement on that sinker.

Yea, Williams like Norris might be able to have a higher max velocity and average out of the pen.
