GDT 5/22/21: Pirates vs Braves - A start for Ender

Normally I would hope someone pinch hits for Wilson here but the Pirates are ****ing awful. With a 4 run lead I have no issues with him continuing for the time being.

Enscheff, does Wright have 2 pitches that could translate to a good reliever?

Weight has several gold pitches. His problem seems to be that he can’t execute them, and they get murdered due to poor location.

Perhaps focusing on sinker/slider makes him a multi inning guy? Maybe something similar to what Ynoa projects to be long term?

Yeah, I guess, but if you watching on a Saturday afternoon, you love it regardless

When I was a boy watching football most of the successful teams were power running teams. Now, it's a finesse passing league. However, I don't hear old football players **** over the modern football game. Why do old baseball players do this? All games change over time.

I mean Horner is so out of touch he doesn’t realize Bonds won several MVPs and isn’t in the hall.

And yet Chip just has to coax out the ignorant opinions to satisfy his biases.

Exactly. It’s baffling. Especially from the announcers who owe their livelihood to the sport.

The 3x penalty is some combination of fatigue and batter familiarity with the pitcher. At 68 pitches I don’t think the fatigue component is a factor.

With a 4 run lead and a low pitch count, leaving Wilson in is the correct call.

They literally just tried to justify hitting the other way by citing the success of small market As and Rays...teams who literally invented modern analytics telling us why poking the ball the other way isn’t optimal.

It’s laughable

While true, football is fast paced... there's no time to lecture people about past times. Calling the game is all you have time for

Have you ever watched a football game? There is literally about 7 minutes of action spread out over 3 hours.

They just do a much better job filling the dead time with replays and breaking down things that happened.

Can't let guys get rusty though.

Great change here, snit

Come on mane... baseball goes at a snail's pace compared to football

“What I always appreciated about you is that you were a power hitter who tried to go the other way and didn’t just try to launch everything to the pull side.”

The Pirates being the best at going the other way has lead them to the 3rd worst offensive performance in baseball. That will teach them Chip.
