GDT 5/6/22: Brew Crew vs Braves - Throwing it back for Hank

If we don’t win this one I’ll be taking a 1 month trip to the DL to rest rehab and get the magic back for the playoff push

TD already in twits doghouse. I would rather see him over herpes.

Honestly it is amazing to me that we are here in LF. Especially with a decent payroll and after a WS.

You'd think the easiest position to have a quality bat in is LF or 1B. LF seems like it has been problem for a LONG time.

To be fair, they expected Rosario to be that guy and there's no way to predict his eye issues.

I wouldn't be surprised if AA made a smaller trade similar to when the previous regime got Matt Adams after Freddie was out for a few months in 2017.

If he truly pulled himself for being tired, he'd be in my dog house too

See I think that’s messed up. He’s trying to be honest with the manager so he can put the team in the best position to win. He shouldn’t be punished for that.

There was a thought among some that by not re-signing Freeman, the Braves would alienate their fan base and lose fans. Well, it's still early, but Braves are currently #4 in the league in average attendance, averaging 37K a game (stadium holds 41K).

There were certainly ways to predict Rosario wouldn't be very good though...starting with how he's played for the last 3 years. I guess that one month in October fooled more folks than I thought.

But hey, the good news is they guaranteed him 2 years!!

Oh, and they are paying Duvall something like $13M this year after the Marlins gave him away for free like 6 months ago. Who could have possibly foresaw him not being very good? Impossible to predict!!!

If it's consolation, soler is trash so far too

Justin Toscano:

Mike Soroka has not had any setbacks. He has been throwing off the mound a bit, Brian Snitker said.

As I've previously reported, the Braves are targeting sometime around the All-Star break for his return -- and the plan is for him to be a starting pitcher.

With no set backs that’s a plus. If Soroka can come back strong that’s beyond huge for us. Even if he’s half as good as he was at first that’s still better than what we’ve been getting from the 5 spot.

To be fair here - how many better options were out there to play CF at ANY price?

Would you have preferred to top the Mutts' offer that Marte accepted?

I mean…the first half of 2021 was the only time Rosario has been bad. He’s been an .800 OPS hitter for the last 4.5 years.

Rosario isn’t some star, and I’d prefer to see him platooned. I also beat the drum on getting another outfield bat before the season. But, you’re being awfully hyperbolic about Rosario.

Nice stats on Rosario
