GDT 6/10/19: Running it back vs the Pirates

You guys don't get it. Donaldson needs to hit 30 HRs drive in 90 for him to be worth his money. If he doesn't he sucks period. I don't need a new age stat to tell me a guy is not performing.

I’d post the “Not Sure If Serious” meme, but sadly I am sure you’re serious.

Value Donaldson how you’d like; I’m glad the Braves’ FO values players differently.

The guy will be lucky to hit 20 bombs unless a turnaround is coming quickly. I am sure Papa Blue Jay will find an excuse to re-sign him.

Oh man we have someone that thinks rbi is important. I guess Swanson has been as good of a hitter as Freeman this year.

You tell me since he has a ton of RBI so far. What does it mean?

Maybe it means he is coming to his own. Time will tell. Now answer me this. Why does your crowd dismiss nearly all of the bedrock stats of this game? Is it because YOU THINK your smarter and just want to show off? Or is it just simply a way to support a player you like personally by finding a good stat when his baseball card isn't pretty by normal standards?

Like wins for a pitcher, runs and rbi for a hitter is totally dependent on the rest of your team. People far smarter than me have developed better ways to understand offensive value. It's also what is used by the vast majority of front offices in baseball. Things evolve and the more statcast data we have the better we can determine a players true value.

All you saber guys lost any cred with me when you argue a K is just an out and RBI's and wins mean nothing. Bet you a dollar none of you would have the stones to argue that with The Hammer. I will stick to the ways and the game I grew up on.

Cool. I'll stick with what people currently running baseball teams focus on and not what players 50 year ago think.

Also: what would getting into an argument with an 85-year-old cultural icon demonstrate positively about our character??

Seems like that would prove less about our “stones” and more about our douche-level.

No, if you're so sure you are right, take a stand. Drive us dinosaurs out once and for all. Basically what it comes to is a group of nerds wanted to re-invent the wheel and did just showing off.

That already happened. There are only a couple of dumb teams left.

Jury's still out on how competent he is. He was willing to send a minor haul for JTR. Thank goodness the Marlins still gonna be Marlins and turned him down.

If we win the division again against two teams with substantially larger payrolls

Wash is at 160 million
Philly is at 155 million.

After Keuchel we're around 130-135 then yes, AA will have been a damn good competent GM. Plus he's already signed Albies and Acuna for way way way below their real market value.
