GDT 6/11/22: Braves vs Pirates - Backup DH is in

Man, remember all those spicy takes when braves announced they were leaving out of crappy Atlanta?

Only 5 back in loss column now to Mets.

Going to break that fan bases heart even earlier this year.

you really can't help yourself

Just waiting for accountability to to be a practiced attribute for certain posters who make statements and ridicule others for having a different opinion.

Racism! How dare they move from a ****hole area to where their fans are!

Voter suppression!!

You all know who you are. Specifically the person that always likes posts that attack me.

Hahahahahahahababababababahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

You…calling for accountability on bad hot takes. The guy who just vanishes when his moronic blabberings are proved false, and then comes back when the team is going good with a case of amnesia forgetting that he said the stupid things.

You…waiting for accountability…

Hahahahahahahabababababahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Thanks for that good laugh in the morning!

I mean there can be a lot of things said about the reasons why they moved out of Atlanta and the way it happened. But if you believed the data that they presented that the majority of people that went to the games were from that area then it's a no brainer that the fans are coming to the stadium like they are after winning the WS.

Of course it was a no-brainer.

We were an embarrassment. That Cub playoff game was an absolute joke. Now we have one of the 5 best places to play in baseball.

Thank you OLD GUARD

The people who made the Cobb County move happen are still employed by the team.

Business ops and player ops are not the same.

I actually was around there mid-January.

Still a ****hole

Congrats on telling me you are lying

Weird but you do you then

Very nice buildup around there that could have easily been done when the braves were there

For the non lairs that might go down there

Y’all should visit Little bear restaurant, halfway crooks brewery, how crispy express, white chapel bbq and the other places that are down there now next to the stadium.

Very cool spot

I think you can see it from both sides. But just as easily an arguement could be made that the Braves needed to leave the area to allow it to be developed. So much parking area was sold to developers who are helping revitalize the area around the stadium. Some might argue it was a win/win for the Braves and Fulton county to divorce and move away from each other.

Were people really calling the move racist somehow?

The Braves moved for one reason, and one reason only: money. They wanted to make more money, period. And I'm willing to bet they don't care what color the person is giving it to them, only that they give them as much as possible.

Classist? Probably. Racist? Only tangentially.

Personally I'm in favor of the club making the most money it can because that makes it more likely they will have the resources to win.

Can't say I care about it's impact on downtown Atlanta, people's perceived racism, or the arguably poor tax policy's impact on the people of Gwinnett county no matter what the one dude from Kennesaw State says.

This is the truth. The Braves care about one color, green.

A lot of the film industry has set up shop in that old Turner Field area. There are several prop houses, SFX shops, and various other studio mechanic shops through there. Sound equipment, lighting, staging, et al. It's close enough to that monstrosity Tyler Perry built on what used to be Ft McPherson and there's a ton of old warehouse space through there. It's kind of a cool little area. Parts of it. I still wouldn't go down near the Salvation Army campus unarmed.

The biggest problem with the Braves and Fulton county was the city of Atlanta not being willing to share in any of the maintenance expenses for the ballpark. IIRC, most of the "racist" rhetoric had to do with the new ballpark not being accessible by MARTA, which much of the Gameday staff depended on to get to work. It's possible to take mass transit from Fulton to Cobb Co, but it's much more difficult.
