I don’t believe that for a second. If Riley’s healthy he doesn’t need a “routine off day” and the plan from the second the suspension for Donaldson was handed down was he was going to take it today as the plan was for him to have today off anyway. The plan changed for some reason and it wasn’t to give one of the youngest players on the team some routine rest.

Agree, but it's only been, like, 10 hours since his hand was hit. It's better just to keep him out and let it heal for a day.

A hand can be sore and still ok. That kind of thing can mess up a swing if a hitter is hurting. A day off is worth it.

I get taking a day or even a couple off to rest the hand and make sure it’s healthy. I actually fully endorse that approach. Don’t report it’s routine though. Especially after Donaldson’s suspension plan was reported earlier this week and has now been changed.
