GDT 6/17. Padres game 4

Nats play a DH with the Yankees on Monday, would be nice if NY could take both or at worst split them.

Watching Padres broadcast. Can't wait to hear their manager's answers to the inevitable questions concerning bullpen usage/Tyler Flowers.

Green gave props to Julio but had to mention JT getting strikeouts on pitches that appeared to be outside, particularly the called third strike to end the top of the first. (Can't say I blame him as I, too, thought we caught a break there.)

He wasn't asked about pitching to Flowers with two out, a base open and LH Inciarte on deck. Good thing he's not in the shark-infested media markets like NY or Philadelphia as he'd have been grilled.

Danny Santana 3-4, 2b

Entering today, he was .264/.284/.527.

Until we get a better option, I'd like to use him instead of flaherty

Speaking of Camargo, his .750 OPS is better than Frazier with the Mets (.732 OPS), both players are hitting for an average in the .220's and Camargo has been a bit better on defense at third. While also filling in at short (0 DRS at short) and a few games at second. A lot wanted to sign Frazier but had we done so we'd have a player performing less at third than Camargo that is likely to decline further next year.

That said, great start by Teheran today at a time we needed it. I hope his groin pull isn't serious where he has to go back on the DL.

I wanted Santana over Bourjos when Acuna got hurt because of his speed off the bench (good at stealing bases) and he is very good defensively in LF (it is his best position easy).

I don’t think I’d get Mous or Frazier unless it accomplished something else on top.

I think maybe Solarte would be my low rent favorite.

Beltre or Donaldson would be my next tier up. I’d question whether Beltre would hold up but maybe his legs would benefit from the inaction. Donaldson might get it together when healthy but the money is too much for both of these guys probably.

Machado being tier 1 upgrade.

Moose has an OPS under .800 too, though better than Camargo. However, Camargo is better defender than Moose. Personally, I love Beltre and he'd be my target because he is still a very good hitter and great veteran future HOFer to add. You could give him off days at third as needed but still would like Beltre to get another shot at the playoffs with us. I doubt Texas trades him though, unless he asks wanting another shot at winning.

Beltre has played a lot of places. I’m not sure he’s the face of the franchise in a way that you can’t trade him.

Great game today - really really encouraging to see Julio dominate like that. Glad we got a bit of revenge on the Padres' 'pen. My son made it through 6 innings, so I'm glad we got to see all of Julio's start. Almost thought we were going to blow it once I got back to the car and got the radio on, but Viz managed to close 'em out. 3/4 is awesome, especially against a team that's been pretty hot recently
