Just sweep the NL Champs. This should prove to every man on this team they can play with anybody. Going forward the goal should be to catch Philly.

the goal should be to lose 120 games and get the #1 pick. The team is not making the playoffs, so what's the point of finishing 72-90 and drafting 9th instead?

The debate on whether or not Teheran is an ace is one of the most ridiculous ones we engage in. My answer: Who cares? The guy is a very good pitcher and that's good enough for me.

Just to pull a comparison out. Mention Arrieta's name these days and there's more cream in some guys' shorts than there is in the dairy case at the local supermarket. But let's roll back the clock. When Arrieta was 25, he had a 1.458 WHIP and 1.58 K/BB while going 10-8 with a 5.05 ERA for the Orioles. He has certainly turned it around. But if Arrieta can reach the levels he's reached, what's to say Teheran cannot. Julio needs to keep the ball in the park and even if he does that, he may never reach unquestioned ace status. But the guy can pitch.

Trade him or keep him? I can see both sides of the question, but if they trade him, they better get a frickin' haul.

I wonder if it will be Bonifacio. Down side in all of this is Francoeur gets more ABs (or something that faintly resembles an AB).

I suspect you are right about Francoeur getting more ABs. But there are other options.

Although he has played better at third, we should consider giving Garcia more time in the OF with Mallex out.

Infield of D'Arnaud, Peterson and Aybar to be supplemented by Beckham when he gets back.

You guys and your draft picks!!! The number 1 next year might be Chipper Jones, but he might be Brien Taylor...

he has, but sadly most pitchers are right handed and he might as well be swinging a a 4 day old eel against them

Yup. The splits (both career and 2016) data argue for not expanding the number of PAs he gets against righties:

2016: .541 OPS against righties, .829 against lefties.

Career: .694 against righties, .785 against lefties.

If mallex, Julio, FF, inciarte, wisler, Blair, gant, folty, etc are gonna be key players going forward, I want them to have some success from now till the end of the year. I would much rather our young pitching staff close out this year strong than they suck and we get #1 pick
