I am just hoping we can hold our pen together until we get some guys healthy
Acuna's perpetual day-to-day status, at least in relation to his ability to play the field, complicates things a bit. Ozuna is basically at the point where he's no longer just a terrible left fielder -- he's essentially unplayable out there. So Ozune needs to be at DH. But so long as Acuna needs the DH spot multiple times a week, that forces Ozuna into the field, which is...sub-optimal.
Even when Acuna is in right, Harris is in center and Ozuna is at DH, you still need someone in left, and we don't have someone. It would be nice to have just a .700 OPS guy with solid defense out there. So your choice is either to ride with Duvall and hope he hits up to his career .229/.289/.460 career line or find someone on the cheap who can do that.
I’m telling you….if we keep hitting the way we have been…we will leave Colorado down 6.5 games…which is incredible. The Mets are about to get trounced out West finishing up with the Dodgers, 3 at SD, and 3 at Anaheim…then come home for 3 with the Brewers…we have 3 witt CO, 2 with Oak at truist, and 4 with Pitt at truist before going to ****ty Dc…
We have a beautiful chance to make up some serious ground…and if all goes well maybe take the division lead…it’s going to be difficult but certainly attainable.
Why the **** does Snit refuse to play a top 5 hitter on his team?
Snitker for continually playing Adam Duvall over better players:
"Shoot, we know Adam can play really good ball. I know he's struggling a bit right now, but you saw his stats last year. They were really good. Remember how he performed against us with the Marlins? He was really good. I know he can get back to playing good baseball. We hope playing in this park will get him back and get him going back to good baseball. He's just a good player."
Not really a Snitker quote, but I can imagine him saying something like this about Duvall.
