GDT 6/25: Lopez and a rainy night in the city of blues

But can he? From a numbers perspective Laureano his better vs LH with slightly lower power...do we really need both of them?

Likely, because we probably can only get another platoon player at the deadline. Such is the position the Braves are in.

Thing is, if Albies, Olson, Riley and Murphy were hitting to their career averages, we could live with three replacement players in the lineup, at least until MHII gets back.

Duvall has gotten super unlucky on balls in play .202 BABIP is just brutal. He hitting the ball as hard as he ever has and he's actually striking out less than career averages.

It's likely he'll break out of his funk at some point, and when he does, he'll like go on a month long tear and hit 15 homers. Historically, July is his best month, so I'm gonna say he gets hot soon.

Trade Ozzie in offseason after next season's good year.

That's actually a good idea. His contract will almost be up and I don't want to pay him 20+ million a year. Trade Acuna too next time he has a big year. Sounds harsh but to stay a top tier team we need to keep infusing the team with young and cheap talent. It would probably take 70 million a year to resign them both. I rather get a kings ransom for both in prospects and still have that 70 million to spend.

We have the 4th highest payroll in baseball. Fans will not show up if we let a star like Acuna leave. You think Sox fans love the haul they got for Mookie Betts? They got the top prospect of the Dodgers Verdugo, and other near top prospects Jeter Downs and Connor Wong. Mookie has given the Dodgers 26.5 rWAR, the Red Sox got back, 11.9 rWAR and a piece they traded for more prospects. Dodgers won a world series, Red Sox made the playoffs 1 time since the trade.

Rarely is trading an MVP level player worth it. Marlins traded Yelich and he was a real asset as the Brewers became a regular playoff team.

Duvall is starting against a RHP today instead of Laureano has been slightly (not good at all but still better) better against them in his short Braves stint.

Why, Snit....Why?

And at the very least, Laureano has the better arm in the OF.

AA is gonna have to cut a very productive player vs lhp bc snit has no idea how to use him.

I don’t think the guy starting for the White Sox is a starter anymore. I have no idea what the White Sox bullpen is like, but this just may be to get dufail a start and isn’t really worried about hand matchups. There’s a good chance this guy might not make it dufail spot.

probably the most embarrassing team I have seen in a very long time. The talent difference is huge between these two teams and sure the Braves could erupt one inning and easily win this game, but these games where 80% of the game the team is sleep walking is just embarrassing...

this team doesn't need to add anything to this roster except a real leader in the club house who actually gives a ****.
