GDT 6-28-14 (Game 1 of DH): Braves (Santana) at Philadelphia (R. Hernandez)

Yeah probably keeping Schlosser in reserve to cover for Hale if needed in Game 2.

Yeah. The pen is in good shape for game 2. I believer everyone should be available. Avilan threw 17 pitches and Simmons 8. They could both pitch in game 2 if necessary. Hopefully though it won't be necessary.

What do you guys think will be the lineup game two? I'm that we could see Pena instead of Johnson and MAYBE Schafer instead of BJ.

I was gonna comment on how well he did after the first two. That being said, it's the Phillies' worst lineup they could almost put out. But still, good job.

Terrible lineup, maybe but this ballpark is hardly easy to pitch in.

Catcher obviously depends if Oso can go.

Otherwise, Pena should get a start for Tommy LaSorta or CJ.

Everyone else should play though, maybe sit BJ.

Fredi just said on postgame, they are still thinking about lineup and "roster stuff" in Game 2. So take what you will. He wouldn't commit to his catcher. Makes you wonder, if they called up Bethancourt and they're going to use him for the 26th man.

I'm curious why they don't bite the bullet and have Doumit catch game 2. I believe he has caught 1 game this year.

They probably think he's too much a liability defensively and maybe doesn't call a good game. The "roster stuff" Fredi eluded to makes me think, Gattis might be hurt worse than originally thought.

Sure. But this is the kind of semi-emergency situation where you want to take advantage of having a third guy who can play catcher.
