GDT 6/28: Harris Not In The Lineup

Two things. First, I have no idea how Ranger Suarez gets people out. Dude has the arsenal of a number 5 starter.

Second, I'll say it again, this is not a serious team. If AA doesn't sell he should be fired.

For the "don't criticize AA" crowd...this is prime time for him to undo the travesty of the farm system. Call it soft reset or whatever but there are components of this team that need to be carved out from this team. You have a few pieces that you can trade for lottery projections. I'd do it! The subjective people here knew this team was in trouble from the beginning of the offseason.

I understand the frustration, because I feel it too. I also understand wanting to sell. But who are the Braves going to sell? They’re not going to get much for Ozuna. Maybe you can get creative in a deal involving Murphy, but that’s a stretch. So realistically, I’m not sure the Braves can do much selling.

Another spoiler - this team is gonna catch fire around end of July. They'll end up coming short by about 1-2 games. AA will run it back... they'll start the season not hitting till July again next season

These next 9 games will probably determine the direction the franchise chooses on July 31st. You have very winnable games against the Angels, Orioles, and Athletics. After that, the All Star Game is book-ended by series against the Cardinals and Yankees.

In the sports world, the notion of pressure has a stigma, but that misses the mark most of the time. Pressure is actually a good thing, as long as it’s the motivating kind, not the paralyzing kind. It helps athletes perform with more focus and intensity.

Ballclubs with a winning culture put constant pressure on their players by setting expectations and giving unfiltered feedback. The Braves‘ players, on the other hand, feel hardly any pressure at all. There’s no expectations, and the players feel it. So when they suddenly do find themselves in a situation with mild pressure, like a big AB, they completely shit themselves, because it must feel like the weight of the world is suddenly on their shoulders compared to the normal state of sleepwalking through the season.

When you have no pressure to perform, when the work you put in has no consequence, good or bad, everyone gets bored. That is the state of this team.

I don’t disagree… but how many times have we said this during the season? They keep doing just enough to give a little hope, but then fade quickly.
