GDT 7/12/14: Braves (Minor) @ Cubs (Jackson) 4:05 PM

AA you can't be serious. Gattis is terrible defensively. CB has a cannon for an arm and has already made plays that Gattis clearly would not have. Yes his caught stealing percentage is low, but he threw one out today and one stolen base was completely on Wood yesterday as he didn't even look the runner back to second base. I mean CB didn't even bother throwing the ball. Gattis was also at like 22 percent caught stealing.

He only has 46 PA and 11 games behind the plate in the majors. Way too early to glean anything from his stats.

I actually didn't know you had one. I guess your lobotomy did not go well. smh.

But being a mod I guess it is okay for you to attack posters. If you cannot refute facts, you come in calling people idiots. I said based on fact he is not WOW me in the defense department. In less games he has as many PB as Gattis, a lesser percentage of throwing out runners. Those are facts. His hitting is suspect but he has came through but that is not his strength.

He is better than Laird I give you that, but he should many times better than Gattis as well and hasn't shown it, fact.

Nah, sometimes posters need to be called out on their foolishness. And I don't know normally throw around the word "idiot." I pretty much reserve that term exclusively for you.

And if you can't understand why your "opinion" (you didn't state it as that, despite your suggestion to the contrary) is ridiculous at this point, then you're even dumber than I thought.

Such love between all of us.

Did I say Gattis is better defensive catcher?

No.

I said that CB is not wowing me with his defense.

Never said, never ever said, never ever ever ever said Gattis was better defensively. You came to that conclusion. I did not.

I just said, CB is not showing what people keep bow wowing to. 23% thrown out rate is not good, 3 PB already this year? That screams just another catcher to me.

And you based your opinion on the "WOW" factor. Presuming that anything that is negative to any player suggest a poster is talking out of his backside even though stats backed it up, who is fooling who? I bring stats, you bring in well, ummmm, errrrrr, do you watch him play? Well, I have and he has not impressed me. Calling a person an idiot when said idiot has facts to back up his claim, so who is the idiot, idiot?

Back at the game, why is Carpenter pitching in any contest in which the Braves have less than a 10 run lead?

I don't bring up stats because I know how foolish it is to look at defensive stats 11 games into a player's career. And I ask if you've watched him play, because if you have, then you should have seen him make some really good plays already.

And let's not even bring up the fact that many of our pitchers have explicitly stated that they've had issues throwing to Gattis. An issue that has not been present with Bethancourt.

As you can tell, I'm definitely not a fan of Carpenter's.

So we're going to be screwed for the fourth time this year on the "neighborhood play." Sure would be nice if there was some semblance of consistency on that call.

The consistency is that the Braves get hosed.

Save for this time.

somebody's got to pitch, and it can't be Walden again. Who would you prefer, Avilan?

Simmons is getting an awful lot of work. And Carpenter isn't getting any.

This game needs to hurry. My power is out(stupid storms) but my UPS is keeping my router going for now. Dont know how much juice it has left.

Again, you are stating like Niners stating that I presume to think Gattis is better defensive catcher, never said it.

What I am saying he is not WOWING me like people think he the shizznit. He has 3 PB already in 11 games, that is not good, he has thrown out 2/9, that is not good. His framing is not that good. His blocking is exceptional and he has a great arm but it is failing him. THat is all observations. But yet you want to bash the poster who brought up facts because it taints your reality of what we have seen. He could do better than this I know it, you know it. BJ should be a better player but hasn't shown it but yet we bash him nonstop because he should be better than this. I am using CB the same way, he should be better than this on defense. I know he cannot control pitchers when holding people on, but Gattis has a terrible arm and a better percentage, soooooo....

I hear you. It just seems we ought to have better pitching options than Carpenter given his [less than stellar] body of work this year.
