GDT 7/13 vs Reds Injured Outfield Edition

Bad reaction from Reed, but Coazrt laced that ball. Minor looks bad early on. Let's see some magic Mike right now.

But Simmons may do well in the 2nd spot.

1st - .230/.266/.333 (.600) in 260 PA

2nd - .313/.328/.391 (.719) in 68 PA

7th - .273/.365/.436 (.801) in 63 PA

8th - .290/.338/.406 (.744) in 151 PA

Pretty much any spot that isn't the lead off spot is a much better spot for Simba.

But the fact that he has to get Constanza on the roster to move him is the point. Heyward would be a great option in the lead off spot.

Has nothing to do with where he hits in the order, it has to do with his approach at the plate. The reason he shouldn't hit leadoff right now is because he's not swinging the bat well, he tries to pull everything. If he starts hitting line drives and focuses on using the whole field I have no problem with him leading off for this team.

Those Yankees teams were were very good and didn't need a lead off hitter. We don't have that luxury.

It doesn't matter how good your team is. All you need in a lead off hitter is someone with a great OBP. The Braves have a guy capable of doing that in Jason Heyward. Having good speed and being a great baserunner is overrated in my opinion as a lead off hitter.

So you don't think his approach changes based on where he is in the lineup that causes him to hit much better when he's not in the lead off spot?

Sure looked like Minor was getting squeezed on those 1st 2 pitches to Choo - both looked pretty close to strikes to me

The ump wasn't giving Minor the inside corner that Choo AB. But that's no reason to throw it where he did. That run is on Minor certainly.
