GDT 7/14/19: A permanent lineup change?

I think we will see Riley optioned to make room for Ender. It would help us avoid Super 2 and give Riley some time to work on his approach in a more comfortable atmosphere. Plus, we need to know what we have in Ender.

I’m pretty sure we know what we have in Ender. A below average hitting CF whose elite defense makes him a good player who now has back problems.

Hes having trouble recgnizing major league sliders. I dont see how AAA helps him at this time.

He actually helped last night with not striking out and get that critical Sac Fly, but it means that they are sending a message to him, put more work on tapes and determine what to swing at and not swing at.

But it helps the Braves win more games this year if he's replaced with a better player.

I agree.

With our decent lead, I could see the FO being a little more patient with Riley though if they feel he has more upside come playoff time.

Guess Snit finally figured out being in the 8 hole is not what was making Ozzie good.Or maybe he thinks by putting AR there it will make him start hitting better like it did Ozzie haha

He actually contributed the win last night?

Who is a better player? Duvall, Inder, they sucked before sent down.
Healthy Ender is a great player whom we have financial commitments with. We have to assume his early season struggles were due to the back injury, if he’s healthy then we need to see if he returns to form.

If he doesn’t return to form than you see what you have with Duvall or Riley. Having options is a benefit here. We don’t need to sink or swim with just any one player.

We need to find out what the lingering effects if any of the back problem are.

A healthy Ender is better than Riley. It remains to be seen if he's actually healthy though. That being said Riley has been worth 0.1 fWAR since June 1st. Essentially a replacement player.

Great?

Okay, if that is what you think, more power to you.

I'm old and as a result somewhat old school, but Riley doesn't make a lot of sense in the 8-hole because he doesn't seem to want to draw a walk. I've always thought that if push comes to shove, put a guy who shows he can walk batting 8th and at the very least you have a better chance at turning the line-up over. It's not that big a deal because I'm not totally wedded to any particularly strict philosophy of line-up construction, but at the margins it doesn't make a ton of sense.
