GDT 7/15/22: Braves @ Gnats - Questionable Lineup

What did Soto do? I missed it

He and Will Smith continued their personal beef with each other. Soto smirked at Smith during his at bat against him. Then after the walk, Smith basically told him to take his base and also dropped an F-bomb to which Soto did the wipe your tears gesture.

I don’t they’ll be exchanging Christmas cards anytime soon

You know Will, there is a sure fire way to get a bit of payback on Soto, right? It’s getting him out. Although right now, you’re not too good at getting any batter out.

he'd rather give up huge homers to him, then intentionally hit him with pitches and whine when he can't get him out and walks him with the bases loaded

that seems the more grown up way instead of just being better than him

I can't stand the dude. Hope he has a fun year after the nats trade away bell and Cruz

If you're the Nats, you gotta at least consider trading Soto, right? 2 more years of team control after this year and regardless of the money they offer, seems unlikely he'll accept. Just dont know who other than the Dodgers has the package to even make the Nats blink at it.

Seriously. His team is down by 6 in the bottom of the 9th and he takes a walk. If that's the right situation to strut around like you just won the game then Soto is gonna be doing a lot of ridiculous strutting the rest of the way.

I have no problem with a player watching their HR or celebrating when they actually do something but you should act like the other team doesn't exist when you do it. Enjoying his accomplishments isn't enough for Soto, he likes to rub the other team's nose in it.

If they were smart, they would. Hasn't soto shot down extension talks?

He just hasnt said yes to any of their offers. He'll be 25-26 when he hits FA, so i dont even wanna imagine the number he'd get as a free agent.

Team continues to roll.

Pile up the wins however you get them. Doing this without a normal Acuna should make all Brave fans super excited.

The man WILL be back!

Soto turning around arguing with the ump about an obvious strike is just begging to get quick pitched.

Guy sometimes doesn’t leave the box to do all his Jack Parkman routine

The Kabuki Theatre that is a Juan Soto at bat is annoying to watch. Good ball player, obviously, but dang we all know you have a good eye at the plate.

Since Duvall left CF with the arrival of Michael Harris on May 28:

OPS against RHP- .763
OPS against LHP- 1.051

No BABIP over .300 from either side.

Trading Soto is the only way the Nats will be relevant within the next 5 years.

We are about to see if that FO is actually competent, or just got lucky to have 2 generational talents available to draft the 2 years they picked first in the same timeframe they just so happened to move into a huge market. The series of events that led to the Nats short lived “dynasty” where disgustingly lucky.

One of those talents (Harper) they inexplicably kept in his walk year when they were way out of the playoff race at the deadline.
